High Availability On BPM Servers With Zero Downtime

As part of the PMR -17988,122,00 IBM BPM Upgrade/Patch install is not supported without downtime. Wellsfargo looking to have High availability support in all BPM applications.

In last year IBM meeting Wellsfargo discussed about one approach to have two cells installing in parallel and synching process data between these two cell DB's. IBM suggested this approach is not going to work as some inflight instances will be older format and will not work until migrating these instances to upgraded version.

Further discussion need to happen to finalize detailed target implementation approach.

Any other approaches IBM comes up with solution upgrading the versions without bringing down the environments.

I am working with another Bank that requires this same feature for BAW. Banks that use BAW to run automation flows that are part of their core business cannot afford down times. Also now that BAW runs on a container environment, it should behave closer to how cloud native applications work which include the capability of doing rolling updates with zero downtime.

Thank you for your idea submission. The upgrade/patch install with zero downtime is not an new topic, unfortunately are unable to achieve this at this time. There are actions (normally database upgrade) requires the server be down, we recommend you backup to ensure the consistency and allow a complete rollback.
