IBM to support ERM Hold policies for CMOD Cache Only environments

Westpac has a Records Management requirement for all Mainframe generated Reports and Customer Statements which flow into CMOD 10.5.0.2. The RM requirement is to dispose of this content that is older than 7 years from the generation date.

The CMOD environment has been configured as a Cache Only system - with archival to a 2nd tier, cheaper Object storage currently implemented. This archival (move) is happening at the Infrastructure Layer (EMC ECS) and is seamless to CMOD - as opposed to CMOD utilities performing the content migration. ERM provides the capability to place documents on hold - which is ideal for WestPac - however IBM support will not support ERM on Cache only CMOD systems.

    Hi Alan,

From a CMOD perspective this is 'Not under Consideration'. Cache is technically not permanent storage, only meant for short term and therefore technically 'volatile'. ERM not indended for Cache-only. Cache has multiple links - could create scaling issues. The CMOD recommendation is to use ' File system' storage which was added prior to 10.5 and does not involve symbolic links.

    Thanks,

    Hi IBM,

Do we have any update on this Policy to not Support HOLD for Cache only CMOD environments?

We are really keen to ERM and have not been able to.

A Custom solution that we have been working on is not really fit for purpose.
