Remove Document from Content Assistant AI Index Through API

Over time documents won't be in scope for your Content Assistant use case but there isn't a good way to remove them from the AI Index.  If you could create a sweep and call an API to remove documents from the index that would be a good enhancement.

Use Case Examples:

  • The file is closed and just waiting for disposition.  You might not want documents in your AI index if you aren't going to look at them for 7 or more years.
  • You are doing a form of document versioning outside of FileNet versioning.

    We would also like to support this enhancement. Our implementation includes many documents that are considered obsolete or out of scope for AI-based retrieval. Having the ability to programmatically remove documents from the Content Assistant index would be extremely helpful. Without this, irrelevant or outdated content risks polluting results and degrading the assistant’s value over time.

    In particular, we have closed files pending disposition and legacy versions of content that should not be surfaced in responses. A documented API or sweep-based mechanism for targeted index removal would significantly improve long-term manageability.
