Native S3 and Azure Blob Storage Support for ICC File System Collector

IBM Content Collector (ICC) for File Systems currently supports NTFS, ReFS, DFS, and Novell file systems as source types. There is no native connector or documented support for ingesting content from AWS S3 or Azure Blob storage.

Enterprise customers adopting cloud-first architectures are migrating on-premises file shares to cloud object storage (S3 and Azure Blob). Without native ICC support for these storage platforms, customers face an architectural gap that forces unnecessary data movement between cloud storage and traditional file shares before content can be ingested into CP4BA/FileNet. This results in increased network traffic, added latency, additional infrastructure overhead, higher operational complexity, and a non-optimal ingestion pipeline.

The request is for IBM to add native S3 and Azure Blob connectors to the ICC File System Collector, allowing ICC to directly monitor and ingest content from cloud object storage buckets without requiring intermediate infrastructure such as AWS Storage Gateway or third-party mount tools.

This capability is becoming essential for customers who have already moved their CP4BA platform to the cloud and are planning full migration of on-premises file shares to cloud object storage.
