Adding BPMN 2.0 Shapes

There is only a limited selection of shapes BPMN 2.0 Shapes available. It would be beneficial to have the palette of all shapes. Also, having the ability to have separate swimlanes/pools and child swimlanes, this is currently covered by the specification.

    Hi Isabel,

We do support a few of these already and some of them are on our roadmap as well.

    • Multi instance sequential activity marker - available

    • Terminate event - accepted for future consideration

    • Signal event - accepted for future consideration

    • Error event - available

    • Data association object, including data input, data output and data collection - data input, data output can be mentioned ,though not visible on the diagram now.

    • Data storage - BWL1-I-503 future consideration

    • Default connecting lines to use with decision shapes. BWL1-I-551 we have a similar request. You could vote for it there.

Thanks for your request, the items marked for future consideration would be assessed and prioritized individually.

    Thanks,

    The Blueworks Live Team

    Hi Isabel,

Just checking in to see if you've seen the comments posted on August 20th, and if you've been able to identify the specific shapes from the standard that you require.

    Thanks again,

    The Blueworks Live team

    Thanks for your request Isabel!

The BPMN 2.0 standard partitions its shapes into buckets, each targetted at a key user group and their use cases. It expects products to pick the bucket(s) appropriate for them.

Blueworks Live has no plans to support all shapes. Rather, it focuses on the shapes in the 'Descriptive' BPMN2 conformance subclass and a subset of shapes in the 'Analytical' BPMN2 conformance sub-class. These are well suited and designed specifically for the Blueworks Live target audience.

If you could identify specific shapes within the standard that you require, we will assess each individually to see if they're appropriate for our user base. We'd also appreciate it if you could articulate how you would use those shapes when modeling your business because that helps with assessment, prioritization, and design.

    Thanks in advance!

    The Blueworks Live team
