Support Multiple CSI Drivers in Cloud Pak for Business Automation (FileNet CPE)

We request support for multiple Container Storage Interface (CSI) drivers within a single Cloud Pak for Business Automation deployment, specifically for FileNet Content Platform Engine workloads running on Red Hat OpenShift.

Currently, CP4BA deployments are effectively limited to a single storage vendor CSI driver. This restriction creates significant architectural, operational, and commercial challenges for customers operating large-scale enterprise content management platforms.

Many enterprise organizations have multiple storage technologies deployed for different purposes, such as:

  • High-performance NAS storage for transactional workloads
  • Object storage for long-term content retention
  • Cost-optimized storage platforms for archive workloads
  • Existing strategic storage investments from different vendors

The current single CSI driver limitation prevents customers from fully leveraging these storage platforms within a single CP4BA environment.

Allow CP4BA and FileNet CPE to support and consume Persistent Volumes provisioned through multiple CSI drivers simultaneously.

Examples include:

  • NetApp Trident + Dell PowerScale CSI
  • NetApp Trident + OpenShift Data Foundation CSI
  • Dell PowerScale CSI + Vendor Object Storage CSI
  • Any combination of OpenShift-certified CSI drivers

Storage classes should be selectable at component, namespace, or workload level, allowing individual CP4BA capabilities to consume storage from the most appropriate platform.
