Need for Role based access control on group environment Merged

The suggestion with this idea is to create multiple group environment with role based access control on groups of users. Here, the permissions can be defined at a group level giving more flexibility and impose restricted or unrestricted access on a group.

We could define the functionality which will be governed based on groups eg scripts, credentials, schedulers, license etc. For other functionality unrelated to the group, role permissions can continue to define access.

By applying the access rights, different users can have different levels of permission to the same group too eg read, edit, write etc.

With unrestricted rights, group access is defined by permissions of user role

With restricted access, although access will be based on roles, some of the permissions are disabled for that group.

This adds a layer of protection on the access to different assets eg scripts, schedules, credentials. For eg Finance department users will have access to scripts created by their department. HR department will have access to scripts created for their department. HR department users will not have any visibility to Finance department’s scripts whilst Finance Deptt’s users will have read access to HR Deptt’s scripts.

The purpose of access based control is to maintain authenticity, authorised access, granular level flexibility to manage access based on individual functionality and type of access is provided to set of users.
