MAIN Branch Protection

 

Itaú adopts the strategy of maintaining the MAIN branch as the single and reliable version of the project, ensuring that only the MAIN branch is used for production deployment.

Deployment Policy:

All rule changes must be carried out in new branches or new releases.

After implementation and validation, users are required to merge these branches/releases into the MAIN branch.

Only after the merge is it allowed to deploy to the production environment.

Itaú does not allow direct deployment from new branches or new releases to production.

Identified Risk:
If any user directly edits the MAIN branch, the governance process is broken, which can lead to unforeseen inconsistencies and stability risks in production.

Technical Requirement:
Implement a Locker (lock mechanism) on all Decision Artifacts in the MAIN branch, ensuring that:

No user can directly edit or modify artifacts in this branch.

The Decision Artifacts in the MAIN branch are updated exclusively through merges from other branches/releases.

Technical Objective:
Preserve the integrity of the MAIN branch as the single reference version, ensuring governance, traceability, and consistency throughout the deployment cycle.
