Creation of releases from the Main Branch

Itau adopts the strategy of maintaining the MAIN Branch as the single and realible version of the project, ensuring that only it is used for production deployment .

Thus, all changes implemented in new branches or new releases must go trough a mandatory merge with MAIN before deployment. Itau does not allow direct deployment of brances or alternative releases to produtction

Current scenario:

In the create a Release screen, it is currently only possible to create a new release based on an existing previous release.

Identified need:

Itau would like the system, in addition to allowing selection of a previous release, to also allow selecting a branch as the base for the new release - especially the MAIN branch

Technical objective:

  • Ensure that new releases can be generated directly from the MAIN branch, strengthening governance over the versioning process ;

  • Ensure consistency between the created release and the content effectively consolidated in MAIN, avoiding deviations or incorrect deployments. ;
