Our business users find Model->Vocabulary view of the Business Console very useful especially as all the members of the BOM (attributes and virtual methods) and their verbalisation can be easily located in one place. We do also support our business users with documentation for each BOM member which is typically saved in the .voc file. This documentation that typically includes usage examples and additional details assists the business users in ensuring they are using the apply the correct BOM attribute and the most optimal virtual methods to write their business rules.
Whilst this documentation for the BOM member is only seen when they apply the member in the business rule, it's not available in the vocabulary view. Consistent feedback we have received from our business users is " If only I could also see the documentation associated with the BOM member on mouse hover over the member in the Model->Vocabulary view that would make our lives so much easier". We think this feature will improve orientation and usability of the BOM for the broader business customers especially when:
- The BOM is large
- Contains BOM members (attributes and virtual methods) verbalisation that near alike.
- Can also see documentation to better understand the usage in the same view (rather that individually in the edit business rule mode)
Assuming the Model->Vocabulary view was put together reading through the "navigation" property of the BOM element that shows the verbalisation in the .voc file, the interface could be extended to also show the "navigation.documentation" property of the BOM element.
Furthermore, an ability to generate a printable document (pdf) will significantly benefit with orientation and documentation of the BOM (which is currently maintained by business manually as there is no such capability within BC and REST API).
