Resolve separation of duties issue to address compliance issue

This request would be useful for everyone that requires separation of duties for compliance.

We have "Business" users that create table changes on a Branch. These branches are then merged to Business Change Branch, then Stage, then Prod by our "Deployment" users. The "Deployment" users must have Edit ability on the tables in order to merge changes. When I remove their Edit ability, they can no longer merge changes to other branches.

We are using AD groups for ODM access.

I have groups for different roles and taking needed actions. I still have the issue that when the user that is able to merge changes to branches, they can independently change table data on any of those branches that they are allowed to merge to. I'm not seeing any way around this. This is the separation of duties issue.

From a compliance perspective, this would either require a manual audit of all changes deployed which is not practical, or a way to allow merging changes to branches while preventing the user that is merging from editing tables on those branches.

The ability to "merge" changes using the REST API would be a workaround as well, but this is also not available today.

    Hello,

when you say "The ability to "merge" changes using the REST API would be a workaround as well", can you explain how this would address your request ? I'm asking because adding such an API might be a solution to explore. But using an API also means that the merge policy needs to be defined, as there is no more manual task in case of a conflict.

    Thank you
