We really need Custom Assignment Back for All Tasks

We have a use case where a user who does one task needs to also be the user that does a future task. It isn't a good use case for last user in lane because we use subprocesses and last user in lane doesn't work. We used to be able to assign directly to a user with Custom Assignment, but that is not available for Client Side Human Services. We have implemented using a team filter service that essentially creates a team of one user.

This is very frustrating for our business users. They use saved searches to keep track of what is assigned to themselves. That doesn't work with the new method because the tasks aren't assigned to their individual user. We had them create a new saved search, but as soon as they run the task, it's assigned to their user. Essentially, they now have two places to look for these tasks. It's confusing to them and I feel I'm constantly having to explain why implementing processes designed the "new" way is purposely making their work more difficult.

I'm confused as to why this is such a big ask -- we're allowing them to re-assign tasks to a user. Why is assigning a task directly to a user to begin with such a stretch? We don't need the entire Custom Assignment functionality, but we need to be able to assign tasks to a specific user.

We've tried our best to make the available functionality work. It just doesn't work as well for our business people.
