Upgrades of running workflow for BPM process based activities

The current way of working of the legacy BPM is that it takes a snapshot at the moment you “save” the coach and the solution; this snapshot includes properties, choice list and other artefact of the solution.

At the run time, there’s many checks/controls made by the BPM in relation to the snapshot and artefact but using their states and values at the moment of the saving. If some external living artefact such as choice list are modified in between by the Content Engine administrator for example (because a properties is linked to a choice list which resides in “ACCE”), then the process will fail in error if the user tries to work on existing running process.

In the current BPM engine, there’s no way to upgrade running process to the latest version of the snapshot, the current work-around proposed are more or less “hacks” that makes BPM engine bypass some checks he normally do to enable user to finish their process, but we’re reaching the limit of this kind of hack because it’ll create side effect on the effective checks that has to be done. And we can’t afford asking user to restart all process every time we’re making solution/process improvement (they don’t understand as they expect such a product to be done to enable easy process improvement).

We need a tool to upgrade the running process with the latest snapshot in order to deserve the business and have the expected flexibility for the solution/process improvement based on legacy BPM.
