Provide a native file content scanning and validation capability in IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) ECM File Uploader that can inspect uploaded files for malicious content (such as embedded JavaScript, malware, or potentially harmful payloads) before the file is uploaded to FileNet/ECM and allow the upload to be blocked, quarantined, or rejected based on scan results.

Currently, IBM BAW ECM File Uploader supports validation such as file type, file size, upload events, and post-upload processing, but it does not provide a documented pre-upload hook or built-in capability to inspect file contents and block malicious files before upload. The existing "On Upload Complete" event can only trigger after the document has already been uploaded to FileNet.

undergoing security and penetration testing are increasingly required to demonstrate protection against Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), malicious PDFs, embedded JavaScript, malware, and other potentially dangerous file content. In regulated industries such as banking, financial services, insurance, healthcare, and government, allowing files to be uploaded before validation creates security and compliance concerns.

The enhancement should provide:

Native pre-upload content inspection capability.

Integration with antivirus and malware scanning engines.

Ability to scan PDFs, Office documents, images, and other supported file types.

Configurable actions such as Allow, Reject, Quarantine, or Notify.

APIs and extension points for third-party security products.

Administrative configuration through BAW.

Audit logging and reporting of scan results.

This capability would allow organizations to enforce security controls before content reaches ECM/FileNet storage and reduce the need for custom upload components or external gateway solutions.
