This is an IBM Automation portal for Digital Business Automation products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Ability/Flexibility to Modify/Delete Existing Case Properties

To improve flexibility and usability, it would be beneficial to enhance the product’s ability to add or modify case properties even after solution deployment. Allowing modifications to existing properties directly within the solution would provide more control and streamline adjustments without needing to create new objects on the CPE end. This capability would reduce the time and effort involved in introducing new properties, as we could simply modify existing ones to meet evolving requirements.

---------------InRegards to Below-------------

IBM restricts case property modification after deployment to maintain solution integrity and prevent crashes or deployment failures. Once a property is defined in IBM Case Manager, it is recommended to avoid deleting or modifying its type after deployment. For reusable properties, IBM enforces restrictions to prevent unintended impacts across solutions; for instance, reused properties can’t be modified once deployed, and some types, such as Business Objects or hierarchical lists, cannot be reused due to database constraints.

To prevent issues, IBM suggests defining properties carefully during the design phase, as properties deleted post-deployment aren’t removed from the underlying configuration, which can lead to deployment issues. Additionally, IBM recommends reusing properties when possible to avoid database overhead and improve solution stability.
