Process instance migration when moving from traditional to container

IBM has a tool to migrate instances when it is traditional to traditional.
The idea is a similar tool, however, to a different platform. Tool must perform a process instance migration from traditional to container platform.

We know that the proposed solution by IBM for handling this situation is by using the federated portal.

However there' s situations where the federated process portal doesn't help. Example: A exposed webservice that finds a particular instance; there would be the need for a orchestration that checks the old environment, then the new and merge the responses. The federated portal doesn't do this.

Since it's the same version of BAW, just between different platforms this tool should be somewhat easy to build.
To make it easier, a restriction could exist that the snapshot running on the traditional needs to be container compliant already.

Maybe a even easier approach would be, why not just check the difference of the BPMDB between traditional and container platform, apply patches to bring the traditional up to speed to the container and just configure the container to use the BPMDB from traditional to continue the instances flow.

To have this possibility is really important as we have big apps with lot's of running instances!
