Case TS014697681 was opened to address that the new data mapping dialog does not differ between input, output and private variables.
We were told in the case:
"It's irrelevant as to what tab you are on (input mapping, output mapping) as to what variables you can use to map. You can use ANY variable to map on either tab. Input/Output/Private is only relevant to the interface of the process. These have absolutely no bearing on data mapping. You can map a Process's output variable to be used as an input mapping if you wish (as long as it's value has been initialized), and likewise you can map a Process's input variable to an output mapping if you wish. Input/Output/Private doesn't not mean anything while data mapping."
VKB has a different opinion regarding the visibility if a variable is input, output or private.
While it may be technically possible, it is really important to show the user from a business team, often non-IT folks, what kind of variable he is about to map.
Tags or sections of variables would be helpful.
