Allow managing (delete, edit) object tables within an organization directly from the IBM Process Mining GUI.

Object tables in IBM Process Mining are used to add contextual master data (such as vendors, materials, locations, or products) to projects, enriching process analyses with relevant business information. Currently, while users can create, append, and retrieve object tables, the ability to easily edit or delete them—especially at the organizational level—is limited. Enabling full management (editing, deleting, and updating) of object tables directly from the GUI would streamline data maintenance, reduce errors, and ensure that all projects within an organization always use the most accurate and up-to-date master data.

Who would benefit from it?

  • Data Administrators: They could quickly update or correct master data without needing backend access or IT support, ensuring data consistency across all projects.
  • Process Analysts: Having more control over contextual data would enable faster adjustments and more accurate process models.
  • Organization Leaders: Improved data governance and agility, as changes to master data (e.g., new product lines, organizational restructuring) can be implemented immediately and reflected across all relevant projects.

How should it work?

  • Centralized Management: Provide a dedicated interface within the organization settings to view, edit, and delete object tables, with clear versioning and change tracking.
  • Role-Based Permissions: Restrict editing/deletion to authorized users (e.g., data stewards or administrators) to prevent accidental data loss or corruption.
  • Impact Analysis: Before deletion or major edits, warn users about potential impacts on dependent projects, filters, or process models.
  • Audit Logs: Maintain a history of changes for compliance and troubleshooting, aligning with IBM Process Mining’s focus on transparency and governance.
  • Seamless Integration: Ensure that updates to object tables are automatically propagated to all projects using them, maintaining data integrity and reducing manual effort.

Object tables are created inside the organization and retrievable across different projects of the same organization.

They can be "detached" from a project inside the specific project data&settings.

They can also be deleted from the Organization: in "Projects", look for your organization, select the "Object tables" tab - you'll see the list of object tables - click on the right menu and select "Delete object table" to delete it permanently.
