I think using SQL statements in widgets would be great to leverage the entire potential of the data uploaded to IBM Process Mining. Lots of important and helpful information cannot be displayed today as it's only SQL-like. I don't think that using Javascript is an adequate alternative as it's not that suitable for data mining as SQL.
Moreover, SQL would be a standard language which makes it easy for new people to get familiar with dashboard widgets.
Not having SQL statements in the future will limit the functionality of IBM Process Mining and will result in the need of using other tools/means (Excel, python etc.) to calculate KPIs and display insights. This will make it more difficult for the customer to understand and to handle the insights. Eventually, it will make him doubt IBM Process Mining.
In addition, in my opinion, it is one piece of the puzzle to catch up with Celonis.
It does not have to be very different from what it is today. Only if the field which shows the SQL-like statement today was editable and allowing SQL statements, would be enough. Just as an idea. I can imagine that it is more complicated on the technical side.

Important idea. Will help to position against Celonis.
I strongly support
Great Idea! I had questions of customers why it is only SQL-like and not real SQL.
Please also consider idea https://dba.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/IPM-I-117. It is a simliar topic, but as relevant as this one!
Great idea.
Great idea of moving to standards like SQL...
