Enhancement Request: Support for Viewing Large Excel Documents in IBM Content Navigator 3.1.0 (CP4BA 24.0.0.x)

Summary:
Requesting enhanced support for previewing large Excel (.xlsx) documents within IBM Content Navigator using the Daeja ViewONE viewer.

 

Problem / Business Need

Currently, large Excel documents do not render properly in ICN using Daeja ViewONE. Users face issues such as:

  • Slow loading
  • Incorrect formatting
  • Page cutoff
  • Unusable preview for large spreadsheets

This limits our ability to review Excel documents directly in the application and forces users to download the files, which creates inefficiencies and compliance concerns.

 

Proposed Enhancement

We request IBM to:

  1. Improve Daeja ViewONE support for large .xlsx files
  2. Provide an option to natively render Excel in a scalable or paginated format
  3. Offer better performance settings or caching mechanisms
  4. Allow configurable server-side conversion for Excel preview
  5. Provide tuning parameters for high-volume Excel workloads

  • Increases user productivity
  • Supports audit/compliance by preventing document export
  • Improves usability for departments heavily dependent on Excel
  • Aligns ICN capabilities with modern document preview expectations
