Have a configurable “Service unavailable” page for CP4BA components, which are currently unavailable, instead of the “Bad Gateway” error page.

Please find the detailed description of the scenario which we encountered recently.

Business Justification: The “Bad Gateway” page does not provide users with meaningful information when a service is unavailable. A customized “Service Unavailable” page would offer a clearer message and reduce confusion for end users. 

For instance, we have a separate team called the VCS team, which is responsible for maintaining infrastructure-related components such as database servers (Linux) and Windows servers.

Recently, during a KVM (Kernel based Virtual Machine) migration, the database servers in our production environment were shut down due to a migration failure. The VCS team worked on the issue and resolved it within a couple of days. However, since the application team serves as the primary point of contact, users reached out to us after encountering the “Bad Gateway” error. This gave them the impression that it was an application-related issue.

If we could provide a customized “Service Unavailable” page indicating that the service is temporarily down due to maintenance activities and will be restored within an approximate timeframe, it would give users a clearer understanding of the situation and help avoid confusion.

Customer Benefits: A configurable page would enhance the user experience by displaying relevant information, improving communication during downtime, and reducing support tickets raised due to unclear error messages.

*Content Details:* The page could include a short explanation of the issue, estimated resolution time, contact/support details.

 E.g.:

 Title: Global EJS application temporary unavailable.

Description: The application is currently unavailable due to ongoing maintenance activities.

We are working to restore services as quickly as possible.

Estimated Resolution Time: Approximately 2 hours
