Hello CM8 Developer Team,
to build up our dynamically input mask with dynamic attribute input for each Itemtype for eventually creating a
search query, we miss an appropriate Rest Service Call to retrieve such attribute definition data.
We have some good reasons to use your new RestService Interface instead of using Java API as in our previous implementation.
Let me show an example by the (build in) Itemtype "XYZ_PolReport" which has an attribute "XYZ_ClaimNumber".
With Java API we can retrieve the following definitions of attribute:
description = "Claim Number (Content Manager Sample Attribute)"
Datatype = 109
charType = 205
length = 8
required/mandatory = true
But I cannot find a Rest Service Call to gather that data from the various defined Itemtypes in our System.
An idea would be to extend the output of such existing rest-call, for a particular Itemtype:
.../cm8app/cm8rest/v1/itemtypes/XYZ_PolReport
current output:
{ "status": "success", "itemtype": { "name": "XYZ_PolReport", "description": "Police Report (Content Manager Sample Item Type)", "id": 1010, "classification": 2, "classificationName": "Document", "isRoot": true } }
output could be enriched by attribute definitions:
... "attributes": [ { "name": "XYZ_ClaimNumber", "description": "Claim Number (Content Manager Sample Attribute)", "type": 1, "length": "8", "required":"true" }, { "name": "XYZ_ReportNum", "description": "Report Number (Content Manager Sample Attribute)", "type": 1, "length": "11", "required":"true" }, { ...
To additionally explain our needs, from our current Application...
We created a dynamic input mask for discovering all available item types (>50) in our system.
Instead of having statically information’s about item type attributes definitions, we gather this data
from java API each time the item type (index class) is changed.
Let me illustrate that by two screenshots of our recent application with two different item types using traditionally Java API .
Besides the technical name of an attribute, we also need human readable Display name (Description), Length and Type (string, integer, float, date, time) for input mask.
<Sceenshot_no1.png>
By changing the item type (Index-Class) also our dynamically attribute list updates dynamically depending
on type, size and Description names.
<Screenshot_no2.png>
Depending of attribute (integer or float) appropriate info is needed, like:
"minValue":1 maxValue":99999 or "decimalPrecisions":15
Please feel free how to implement such rest-call, as long it is possible to create a dynamic input mask with some input checking.
From some output we learned that type:1 is alphanumeric and type:7 is date.
Other type:1072 seem to describe a children result. Can you provide explanation of such types?
Best regards, Timm Bergmann

Hi Timm,
Design has been provided to IBM contacts. The design was approved, so we will not look into scheduling this into a future release. Will update the status when we know more about delivery time frame.
