Process Variants

Some process variants are acceptable variants (e.g. across countries, brands, severity or scale of spending or risk etc...) which may change how and by whom a process is executed. To circumvent this, I would have to duplicate the current process with a title explaining the differences which increases complexity for searching and following the correct process for users. I believe it should act similar to a saved snapshot except multiple versions/variations can be correct at any one time. So you would have individual snapshots per process variant with the variants almost acting as a tab for that one process.

Regarding potential uses, this would allow for direct comparison between how multiple people undertake a process (if it is uncontrolled) as well as being able to model how different factors would change how a process operates while streamlining the process repository. For example, if a company is situated in 5 countries that operate slightly differently due to regulations, they would have one process with 5 variants instead of 5 processes that are mostly the same.

    Hi Sam, we understand the challenge here in terms of complexity for users having to search for the ' appropriate ' blueprint. However, there is a 'conceptual' challenge in that Blueworks live is a process repository solution that positions a ' single source of truth' at the heart of its philosophy. ie there should only be one standard process which is published. If there was a country varient of the same process ( either blueprint or snapshot ) how would the user know which one to use, as there are now multiples ( ie do I use the UK version, European or the US version etc). So, the only way to resolve that would be to have a hard coding which only exposes the country id blueprints to the viewer. Which creates complexity and rigidity in the product. We the understand the issue, but this isnt something that we can consider for 2025 as that mapping logic would have to be created which is more of a esoteric use case than general customer usage. Not to mention challenges around how we would ' identify' that user, based on email ID ?
