Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notifications on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas that cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Please use the following category to raise ideas for these offerings for all environments (traditional on premises, containers, on cloud):
Cloud Pak for Automation - incl Business Automation Studio, Business Automation Insights
Business Automation Workflow (BAW) - incl BAW, Business Process Manager, Workstream Services, Business Performance Center, Advanced Case Management
Content and Capture Services - incl Filenet, Automation Document Processing, Daeja, Navigator, Content Collector, Enterprise Records, Business Automation Content Analyzer, Datacap, Automation Mobile Capture, Content Manager OnDemand, IBM Content Manager

NEIL Parrott responded to idea Set a property on which the search
result should be sorted in the IS-Connector for ICN

CMIS/ICN passes a skip count to query. This is used to page
through a list of documents.
We use the skip count and do FIND DIR with match list until we
have skipped the correct number of documents and then return the
next batch of documents. As the user pages through more
documentsthe skip count grows and the FIND DIR needs to be called
more times to skip documents.- H.Lee
We parse the CMIS request query request and call PRS filter
(Image Services) and then call INX_find_DIRs RPC.
PRS filter doesn't support sorting. - H.Lee
The request is indeed about the sort functionality!
Actually your last screenshot Search_ResultsDisplay.PNG is
exactly what we are looking for. We would like to be able to
choose a Sort by. But we cant, as IS-CMIS-Connector does not
support it (no properties are marked sortable).
The ordering you show (using header column click to sort)
actually only works with less than 1000 results. If there is
more, the sort is only applied to the first 1000, unless you
first scroll to the bottom multiple times to load all further
entries. Thats our customers main pain point.
P8-CMIS refers to the CMIS-Connector in the P8-Suite of Software
(FileNet P8 Content Engine). Unrelated to this inquiry, but
relevant as it shows the requested feature could be implemented
in theory. - R.Merkt via client
I checked in the Browse tab of ICN I was able to sort the
documents or folders (about 100 documents in the folder were
present) and the sort did work. - H.Lee

Set a property on which the search result should be sorted in the
IS-Connector for ICN hat Status gendert zu: Not under
consideration
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In IDM Desktop and ISTK there was the possibility to set a
property on which the search result should be sorted.
Unfortunately this is no longer possible in the IS-Connector for
ICN. Our customer does not use ICN, but has his own frontend
solution using the ICN API for the search query in the
background.
Since it cannot be ensured in which order Image Services delivers
the search result, all records of the search query must first be
queried and then the entire search result must be sorted. For
large files of up to 100,000 documents this takes an extremely
long time. For security reasons, a direct search in the DocTaba
table via SQL is not possible.
Our suggestion is to re-implement the capability as it was in IDM
Desktop.

The ability to set a property in IDM Desktop search by which
the search results are sorted cannot be achieved in the ICN
Connector for FNIS. The reason is because this capability is not
controlled by the ICN Connector for FNIS code, it is controlled
by CMIS.
