Add the ability to invoke a specific node or a group of nodes within a decision model through the ADS REST API, allowing callers to target a subset of the decision graph without executing the entire model.

Currently, the ADS Decision Runtime REST API only supports execution at the decision service operation level. There is no mechanism to target a specific node or a logical group of nodes within the model.

The proposed feature would allow API consumers to specify a target node or a group of nodes as part of the execution request, with the runtime resolving only the subgraph required to produce the output for those nodes. This would be particularly valuable for testing scenarios where developers need to validate individual decision logic components in isolation, without having to restructure or split their decision models.

Some examples are:

  • Functional testing of individual decision logic components to verify that a node produces the expected output for a defined set of inputs.
  • Regression testing after rule changes, where we want to quickly identify whether modifications have impacted a particular section of the decision model.
  • Testing of reusable decision logic that is consumed by multiple downstream nodes.
  • Isolating failures more efficiently during CI/CD pipeline execution by targeting only the affected decision nodes instead of executing the complete model.
