Move all functionality that requires modification of the product .war files (like secured htds & dynamic domains) into the product itself

With installation and management of the product needing more and more to be 100% automated, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain one-off instances of RES & Decision Center when the DecisionCenter.war and DecisionService.war files have to be modified for every fixpack. This problem becomes further compounded when server count increases over 10. We currently have over 200 servers and everytime a fix is released it takes about a month to get that fix fully implemented. It would be extremely useful for the business areas to be able to designate DB connections and security groups/users who can use their services without involvement from the infrastructure team. Our company uses puppet to do the majority of customizations, but we can't maintain 200+ different variations of one file much less two or four.

    Hi Antony
as a quick win I would suggest 2 pre-build new type of dynamic domains based on the same Excel idea, except datasource could be :
    a database
    a webservice

Default wizard gui would provide forms to access each :
    - user/pwd/table/columns for each bom info label/b2x/doc etc .. for DB datasource,
    - url/user/pwd/jsonpath for REST web service datasource

    Hello,

adding a full permission service in ODM runtime to control who can execute a particular decision service would be a major taks that is currently not part of the runtime backlog.

What we recommend instead is to use a dedicated API management tool in front of of ODM web services to control access to each decision service.

Regarding the customization of Decision Center with custom dynamic domain providers, it's for a component that is quite central, so there's typically not many instances to update.

I don't want to give a false expectation that we're considering this Idea for future implementation.

If you feel that there are some 'quick wins' that we should consider, please share through an new Idea or through your ODM lab advocate.

    Thank you for your understanding.
